DIY Painted Bobby Pins

December 7, 2012

After glam-ing up my keys earlier this week, I decided it’s time to funkiszie my bobby pins! 😀

Just like those sparkling keys, this is also very simple and cute! You can instantly get the perfect shade of hair clip to match your outfit!

DIY Painted Bobby Pins

You will need:

DIY Painted Bobby Pins requirements

1. Bobby Pins
2. Nail Polishes/Glitter/Acrylic Paints
3. Clear Nail Polish/Any glue that dries clear (e.g: Mod Podge, German Glue)
4. Cardboard Sheets/Folded Paper.

Instructions:

DIY Painted Bobby Pins

Step 1. Pin your bobby pin on a piece of cardboard or folded paper so that it is easier to paint, rather than holding it in your hand and this will also prevent the other limb of bobby pin from getting painted or else both can stick together.

Step 2. Paint two to three coats of nail polish on the bobby pin to make it completely opaque. Wait for one coat to dry before painting another one or it will take much longer to dry.

For glittered bobby pins, first paint a coat of either glue or clear nail polish and then sprinkle glitter on top of it to cover it completely.

You can even paint your bobby pins with acrylic colours. These will last much longer.

Step 3. To seal in your nail polish or glitter for a longer period of time, paint a coat of clear nail polish and leave them to dry.

Here is how these look in hair;
