Deocremes Review: A New-to-Me Way to Wear Deodorant

August 19, 2026

Deodorant is one of those everyday products that I’ve never really thought too deeply about. Spray it, roll it on, get dressed and leave the house. So when I came across the Jean&Len Deocremes, the whole concept of applying my deodorant like a skincare cream was actually quite new to me.

The two versions I tried were:

Salbei & Blutorange — Sage & Blood Orange
Zitronengras & Koriander — Lemongrass & Coriander

And yes, I had exactly the same thought you probably just had: those are some interesting scent combinations.

What Exactly Is a Deodorant Cream?

If you’re as unfamiliar with cream deodorants as I was, they are essentially deodorants in a creamy or balm-like formula that you apply directly to your underarms.

Instead of spraying an aerosol or swiping on a stick or roll-on, you take a small amount of product and massage it into the skin. Depending on the formula, cream deodorants commonly use ingredients such as baking soda, starches, oils and waxes to help control odour and absorb moisture.

One important distinction is that a deodorant is not automatically an antiperspirant. Deodorants primarily tackle odour, whereas conventional antiperspirants containing aluminium salts are designed to reduce perspiration itself.

The Jean&Len creams were marketed as aluminium-free deodorants. When they launched, their base included ingredients such as baking soda, corn starch, organic coconut oil and carnauba wax, and the formulas were vegan.

So, as a concept, I actually find cream deodorant quite interesting. It almost turns deodorant application into an extra little body-care step.

Jean&Len Salbei & Blutorange — Sage & Blood Orange

The first version combines sage and blood orange.

Sage makes sense to me in a natural deodorant. It has that distinctly herbal, green character that fits quite naturally into the world of body care. Blood orange, meanwhile, brings a brighter citrus element.

Together, though? This isn’t a scent combination I would personally have picked for my underarms.

I can appreciate that Jean&Len was going for something fresh, botanical and a little different from the standard powdery, floral or “fresh cotton” deodorant fragrances. But fragrance is such a personal thing, and this particular combination just isn’t one of my favourites.

Interestingly, there were people who loved it, historical consumer reviews describe the scent as fresh and praise the deodorant’s performance. So this is definitely a matter of personal preference rather than me declaring sage and blood orange objectively terrible!

Jean&Len Zitronengras & Koriander — Lemongrass & Coriander

Then we have lemongrass and coriander.

Now this one is even more unusual to me.

Lemongrass? Absolutely. Citrusy, sharp and refreshing — I can immediately understand why you’d put that into a deodorant.

But coriander?

It makes the whole fragrance combination feel very herbal and aromatic, and personally it isn’t the kind of scent I instinctively associate with wanting to smell freshly showered.

Again, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t work as a fragrance. In fact, older reviews of this particular deodorant cream include people praising both its longevity and scent, while others found the fragrance too strong.

For me, however, neither of these two fragrances would be my first choice. They’re certainly distinctive, but I think I would have enjoyed the cream-deodorant concept more in one of Jean&Len’s sweeter, cleaner or more traditionally fresh scents.

My Biggest Complaint: Where Is the Applicator?

The thing I kept thinking while using a deodorant cream was: I wish this came with a little applicator.

I understand that using your fingers is basically part of the cream-deodorant concept. You take a small amount, massage it underneath your arms and wash your hands afterwards.

But I don’t particularly love putting my fingers into a pot of deodorant and then rubbing it into my underarms.

A tiny reusable spatula would make so much sense here.

It would make getting the product out of the pot feel more hygienic, keep the product away from under your nails and simply make the experience feel a little more polished. You would still need to spread the cream, of course, but even having a spatula for dispensing it would improve the experience for me.

Maybe seasoned deocreme users are completely unbothered by this and I’m just new to the club!

Are These Jean&Len Deocremes Still Available?

This is where things get a little disappointing if this post has made you curious.

The Salbei & Blutorange and Zitronengras & Koriander Bio-Deocremes originally appeared in Jean&Len’s range around 2020. At the time, they were sold as 50 ml deodorant creams alongside a fragrance-free version.

I checked Jean&Len’s current deodorant selection in August 2026, and I couldn’t find either of these creams in the brand’s present range. Jean&Len is currently offering other deodorant formats including sprays, roll-ons and sticks.

So, clearly these weren’t popular, and therefore, appear to have been discontinued.

I Do Like Other Jean&Len Products Much More

I don’t want this review to sound like Jean&Len and I don’t get along, because that’s definitely not the case.

I’ve tried other products from the brand that I enjoy considerably more, particularly some of their hand soaps and hair products. I also find some of the fragrances across those ranges much more appealing.

That’s probably why the scent choices of these deodorant creams surprised me so much. Jean&Len can do really lovely, enjoyable everyday fragrances, but sage with blood orange and lemongrass with coriander just aren’t the combinations I would personally gravitate towards.

The cream format itself was far more interesting to me than either of the fragrances.

Would I Use a Deodorant Cream Again?

Yes — but probably a different one.

Trying these Jean&Len Deocremes introduced me to a category I hadn’t really explored before. I like the idea of a deodorant that feels more like body care, and I can see why people who dislike sprays or conventional roll-ons might become devoted to creams.

For me, the ideal version would have:

a scent I genuinely love, an effective formula and some kind of tiny applicator or spatula.

The Jean&Len versions didn’t completely win me over, mainly because of the fragrances and application experience, but they definitely made me curious about what else is out there.

So now I’m asking you: are you a deocreme person?

Maybe you guys know this category much better than I do. If you have a deodorant cream that you absolutely swear by — especially one that smells amazing and is easy to apply — please give me your recommendations! I’d genuinely like to try another one before deciding whether cream deodorants are for me or not.

And if you’ve tried either of these old Jean&Len scents, I need to know: was Sage & Blood Orange or Lemongrass & Coriander your thing, or did you also find the combinations a little weird?
