Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5% Advanced Serum Did Not Work For Me

September 19, 2021

Vitamin C is a skincare favourite of mine as it is perhaps one of the fastest-acting ingredients. I have always noticed a visible difference within a short span of time. My first ever Vitamin C product was the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop which I have already raved about in one of my skincare videos. After using a serum with only 5% Vitamin C and still getting amazing results, I felt it was time to try something more concentrated for my severe hyperpigmentation and hence this Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5% Advanced Serum sounded like the perfect upgrade.

Mind you, Klairs and Wishtrend are both owned by Klairs and are one of the top Korean skincare brands so obviously, my expectations are always high. Therefore, I am going to keep this review rather short.

Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5% Advanced Serum

Wishtrend Pure Vitamin C 21.5% Advanced Serum comes in a tinted brown glass bottle, unlike the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop. The reason being, Vitamin C products oxidise when they come in contact with light and it is better to store them in a cool and dry place. Better yet, in a refrigerator. I do not wish to bore you with the back story of my Klairs Vitamin C being orange instead of clear so I would suggest that you check out my video on youtube for that. However, that was also one reason why I did not want to buy Vitamin C in a clear bottle again. Albeit, it is said that the difference in concentration plays a role and hence the difference in packaging.

Anyways, after reading one too many rave reviews about the Wishtrend Vitamin C serum, I decided to splurge on it, hoping that it would magically reduce all my hyperpigmentation. To my dismay, that actually did not happen and I am not really sure why. Even though this serum is non-sticky and absorbs into the skin faster than the Klairs one, I always felt a tingling sensation upon application. I guess since I have dryness-prone sensitive skin, amping up the concentration was not such a good idea after all. I would not say that it did any damage per se, however, I also did not really notice any kind of improvement.

Also, I made sure to store this serum properly, and it still turned yellow within a month’s time. That was really disappointing, especially after spending a hefty amount of almost 30 € on it. For me at least, the Klairs Vitamin C serum worked much better and I am definitely passing this Wishtrend one.
