Fashion Pakistan Week A/W 2014
This week has been the craziest this year after the wedding season back in Aug/Sep, because I had to meet numerous academic deadlines, run last minute errands and above all attend Fashion Pakistan Week A/W 2014. Since this was my first fashion week that I could attend, I was pretty thrilled but a bit taken aback by the lack of punctuality. There was a ton of eye candy and I did spot many summer shades. While some designers cleverly incorporated S/S hues and trends, others could have been more thoughtful. Nonetheless, I would congratulate the FPW Team and all the designers for making the event huge and bringing their ideas to life.

Millennial:

 As mentioned in my previous FPW post, before the actual shows a Millennial show was held in which new designers displayed their talent.

Royal Soccer by Aalish Mansoor
Royal Soccer by Aalish Mansoor was mainly made of typical fall shades which seemed promising and my favourite was the dark brown Sari.

Vanishing Culture by Nitasha Yaqub looked extremely elegant and classy as the models walked on the ramp in all whites.

Venue: French Beach, Karachi by Athar Hafeez for Sana Safinaz was a fun bohemian collection deriving style inspiration from 70s and a hip holiday season.

Aurora by Ishtiaq Afzal aptly comprised of orange and navy blue outfits. My favourite from the entire collection is the patterned white skirt with a washed out navy blue cropped top.

A Golden State of Mind by Levis screamed California. Those cardigans, mufflers and the printed plus cosy pants were all the rage on the ramp.

Gul Ahmed as always displayed a very wearable collection full of modern cuts and prints. Irrespective of the wide variation in the colour palette, the collection looked great for Autumn/Winter.

Black on Fire by Aamna Aqeel certainly showed fierce bursts of colour with intricate details added using sequins and diamantes.

Neo Nude by Zaheer Abbas used light flowy fabric that conceptualised mystery with a strong punch of beige, maroon and black. The blonde fringes though didn’t get my fancy.

Day 2:

Misaki by Shehla Chatoor
Misaki by Shehla Chatoor took its inspiration from the Japanese landscape and clearly characterised Shehla’s brilliance as a designer. Featuring skirts, jackets and well-tailored blouses, this collection will linger on our minds for a long time now.

Alpha by Emraan Rajput just as the name denotes was an army inspired collection which looked formal, but lacked innovation.

Bano by Sanam Chaudhri was a graceful collection named after her grandma. I have quite a few favourites from this line.

Folk Spirit by FnkAsia was a traditional looking collection with a modern twist featuring long flowy capes and skirts in folk hues.

Siyah-Sufaid by DnF as the name suggest was a monochrome collection with loads of chic and stylish pieces.

Labyrinth by Adnan Pardesy, another monochrome collection but not ‘just another’. This collection was inspired by Asian, African, Greek and even Islamic patterns.

Everything But the Girl by Deepak Perwani was entirely a menswear collection composed of formals made out of silk, velvet and jamawaar.

Day 3:

Contradictions by Sadaf Malaterre was again made of the two contradictory shades of nature, black and white. It made a point that monochrome will never go out of fashion. The rose headpieces were my favourite bits.

Ravissant by Maheen Karim was an elegant collection featuring mainly night-out dresses and gowns.

Renaissance by Nida Azwer was one of my favourites from the night. It had a little bit of something for everybody.

50 Shades Deep by Mohsin Ali For Sana Safinaz was my most favourite collection of the night inspired my night time jungle theme. It was somewhat unusual yet looked luxurious and very autumnal.

  1. Woah!! I am loving it! Vanishing Culture by Nitasha Yaqub, Scarlett Night by Abel Emanuel, Gul Ahmed, Misaki by Shehla Chatoor, Ravissant by Maheen Karim, 50 Shades Deep by Mohsin Ali For Sana Safinaz and Royal Parade by Nauman Arfeen these have caught my eye.

    P.S. I know Nitasha Yaqub from school, she was my class-fellow and belongs to my city 🙂

  2. BOOM! It must be so fun watching it all live. I have never attended a huge fashion show before but I keep an eye on all possible pakistani fashion shows because of my fam's addictions :p though some trends are completely crazy.
