8th KIBF Book Haul

December 13, 2012

8th KIBF Book Haul

Last Sunday I went to 8th Karachi International Book Fair at the Expo Center and returned with bags loaded with books! I mainly buy books from Paramount and Liberty Books and this year also, as usual I shopped from them. Sadly, Paramount’s range has decreased for me over the years so I bought only 3 books from there and rest are from Liberty.

Now to be honest, I haven’t read much classics rather mainly fictions and chicklits as a young girl. However, for a change this year I tried picking up books mostly by classic authors.

Starting with Liberty as I got majority of my books from there.

The haul is as follows;

Rumi is always a smart pick! โ™ฅ
Rumi The Big Red Book

The Rumi Collection, Shambala Classics

Saadat Hasan Manto; known for his bold writing.
Bitter Fruit; Manto
Gabriel Garcรญa Mรกrquez; Nobel Prize winner in Literature.

Gabriel Garcia Marquez; Chronicle of death foretold

Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Strange Pilgrims

Gabriel Garcia Marquez; Collected Stories

Gabriel Garcia Marquez; One Hundred Years of Solitude

To Kill A Mocking Bird by Harper Lee; bought this on a friend’s suggestion.
Harper Lee; To kill a mocking bird
Paulo Coelho.
Paulo Coelho; The Zahir

Honestly, the name of this book, “White Teeth” , made me to pick it. I have a thing for white teeth! ๐Ÿ˜› The blurb says that it’s a comedy so I’m looking forward to it. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Zadie Smith; White Teeth

I got this knowing that it was the best seller of the year but perhaps, it turned out to be a bad piece of literature. This was an impulsive purchase. I should have done some research beforehand. Anyways, I don’t recommend buying this.
E.L James; Fifty Shades Trilogy

Lastly, I couldn’t keep myself from buying another chicklit! BUT it’s Meg Cabot! After reading her Airhead Trilogy, I wanted to read more of her work. Too bad that I couldn’t get Queen of Babble’s first part. I won’t be reading this until I get that.
Meg Cabot; Queen of Babble Trilogy

Oh, and I got this little goodie bag kinda thing from Liberty for shopping there!
Contains bookmarks, pencil and a badge! ๐Ÿ˜€

Liberty Books Goodies

Now these are what I bought from Paramount;

I have read Shakespeare a lot at school and I do have a lot of his books but this one is actually a collection and it was only for 300 PKR so I had to get this.

The Complete Pelican Shakespeare

Adventures of Huckleberry Finn; Mark Twain
I know this is a children’s novel and I’m still a kid!! You got a problem with that?! -_-

Adventures of Huckleberry Finn; Mark Twain

The artist in me picked this origami book by Rob from M.A.D ^_^
MAD Origami Book 04

I know these are a lot and it exceeded my budget but I only buy books at fairs. Plus, there are just a couple of them each year and I do go crazy when it comes to books! :/

Have you read any of these already?

Looks like a great haul! I tend to come out with mass amounts of books like this when I have money to spend a bookstore, I can only imagine what I'd do if I attended a book fair for adults (we have a lot of kiddie fairs at local schools) I would surely buy half the lot! I've heard of some of those books, I started reading Fifty Shades of Grey but stopped because the weird erotica crap was a bit too much for me. I have read To Kill a Mockingbird, as it was require literature in my school, and I thought it was pretty good, I'm sure you'll enjoy. It's a classic. (:

Hehe, luckily my dad never says no to books {we are a crazy-for-books family!} ๐Ÿ˜€

Enough said about 50 shades ( they shouldn't even be selling that stuff!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ )

And yes, I'm really looking forward to it ๐Ÿ™‚ x
