“What is advertising on a blog, Jadirah?”, “How does advertising work on your blog?”, “How do I advertise on your blog?”, ever since I have started taking advertisements on my blog, these are some of the most common questions I have been asked. I have addressed this time and again and I feel if you just go through my advertising page, you will be able to figure it out but still apparently, most of the local bloggers haven’t been familiar with advertising on a blog previously so here I am to answer all your queries today.

“What is advertising on a blog, Jadirah?”

Advertising online is done by both brands and bloggers in order to spread the word of their own existence and gaining a substantial amount of traffic through other websites. The most common method of advertising on a blog is by an ad placement in the sidebar of the blog. Most bloggers who take ads do offer other perks, such as giving their advertisers shout-outs on their social media. Also, the size and placement of your ad may vary depending on the advertising package you choose, this is dependent on how much you pay for the ad space.

“How does advertising work on Jasmine Catches Butterflies?”

It is pretty simple and I ensure that my advertisers are content. I take advertisements from both, bloggers and brands for one whole month starting from 1st of a month to the end of that month, whenever it may be, that is 28th, 30th or 31st.

For Bloggers: Each month I offer 3 types of ad. spaces to bloggers. Each type has a name and a fixed number of slots available for booking every month. The blogger ad. spaces are;


1) A-List (Largest ad space, only 1 available each month for $10),
2) Potpourri (Medium ad space, only 3 available each month for $5),
3) Love Spread (Small ad space, only 2 available each month for Free Swapping).

For Brands/Companies: Each month I offer 2 types of ad. spaces to businesses (brands/companies). Each type has a name and a fixed number of slots available for booking every month. The ad. spaces for businesses are;

1) Tycoon (For well-established business, 2 available each month for $50)
2) Seedling (For small scale business, only 1 available each month for $20).

All the ad. slots have different prices because each slot comes with a package which contains different ways of ad promotion. The larger the ad space, the better services you get. All my packages are pretty inexpensive and currently on sale.

Other than that all I need is your button code, that would go in my blog’s sidebar and a brief description of your blog which would be shared in a special post where I introduce my monthly advertisers. The juicier you make it, the better your chances of luring in readers. Just make sure that your button size is correct, that is it is the same as that mentioned in the package you pick.

“What Button? How Button?”

If you do not know what a button is, it is just an image of, say, your logo that goes in the sidebar when you advertise on a blog, except for that image has to go into a code for ad placement. If you are not sure how to make a blog button, do not worry, I am trying to put together a tutorial on that and it will be out in May.
